Ash Wednesday

This past Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday, a sacred time observed by many Christians around the world. It serves as a powerful reminder of our mortality, repentance, and the call to draw closer to God.
During Ash Wednesday services, ashes are placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross, symbolizing both humility and renewal. The words "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3:19) remind us of life’s fleeting nature and our need for spiritual transformation.
Lent, which spans the 40 days leading up to Easter, is a season of fasting, prayer, and reflection. Many choose to give up something significant or take on a new spiritual practice to deepen their faith. It’s a time to reset, refocus, and prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
Even though Ash Wednesday has passed, it’s never too late to embrace the spirit of Lent. Whether through acts of kindness, intentional prayer, or self-discipline, we can use this season as an opportunity to grow in faith and gratitude.
