This week, we’re focusing on the story of the persistent widow from Luke 18. Jesus shared this parable to teach us the power of endurance in prayer.
The widow in the story was facing a difficult situation; she needed justice, but the judge she approached was unjust and had no concern for people or for doing what was right. Despite this, she didn’t give up. She kept coming back, pleading her case over and over. Eventually, the judge granted her request, not because he cared about justice, but because her persistence wore him down.
Jesus used this story to show how powerful it is to keep praying, even when it feels like nothing is happening. If a corrupt judge could be moved by a widow’s persistence, how much more will our loving and just God respond to the prayers of His children?
Things to Remember:
Persistence in Prayer Pays Off: The widow’s determination reminds us to keep praying, no matter how long it takes. Her story shows that perseverance can lead to breakthrough.
God is Just: Unlike the judge in the parable, God is good and just. He hears our prayers and responds out of His love for us. We may not always see immediate answers, but we can trust that He’s working for our good.
Don’t Give Up: Like the widow, we may face obstacles and delays, but Jesus encourages us to keep praying and not lose heart. God’s timing is perfect, and He will answer in the right moment.
This week, as we continue to P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens), let’s take inspiration from the persistent widow. Keep praying, keep believing, and trust that God is moving, even when we don’t see it yet.
