Lectio Divina - Matthew 11:28 - 30

This week, we'll dive into our first Lectio Divina on Matthew 11:28-30, and I will share with you what the Lord revealed to me as we go through each step.

Lectio (Reading): Slowly and thoughtfully reading a passage of Scripture.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Meditatio (Meditation): Reflecting on the text to understand what God is saying.

As I meditated on this passage, the Holy Spirit highlighted the yoke. I envisioned a large, heavy yoke around an ox's neck, thinking about how cumbersome it must be for the ox. While the yoke serves a purpose and helps the ox achieve the master's goal, Jesus tells us that He can offer us a lighter, more comfortable yoke and a less burdensome workload. Jesus is offering us a chance to take off the yoke of the deceiver and put on His yoke. He desires to assist us through life and lighten our load.

Oratio (Prayer):Responding to God in prayer based on our reflections.

Lord, I come before You, seeking Your guidance through the journey of life. I welcome Your yoke, Lord, for I know it is easy and Your burden is light. I lay my burdens, worries, and fears at Your feet, trusting in Your infinite wisdom and love. Help me to rely on You completely, knowing that Your yoke provides safety and protection.

Guide me, strengthen me, and fill me with Your peace. Help me to walk in Your ways, finding rest for my soul in Your presence and relying on Your unfailing support.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Contemplatio (Contemplation):Resting in God's presence and allowing His Word to transform us.

Spend the week resting in Jesus, knowing that He is in full control.
