This week will serve as an introduction to Lectio Divina.  Over the next 3 weeks we will explore the steps involved and how each component can enrich our spiritual lives. What is Lectio Divina?

Lectio Divina, which means "Divine Reading," is a traditional practice of scriptural reading, meditation, and prayer aimed at promoting communion with God and deepening our understanding of His Word. The practice involves four steps:

  1. Lectio (Reading): Slowly and thoughtfully reading a passage of Scripture.

  2. Meditatio (Meditation): Reflecting on the text to understand what God is saying.

  3. Oratio (Prayer): Responding to God in prayer based on our reflections.

  4. Contemplatio (Contemplation): Resting in God's presence and allowing His Word to transform us.

As we embark on this journey, we are reminded of the importance of diligently seeking understanding and approval from God, as highlighted in 2 Timothy 2:15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."I am looking forward to this journey with all of you and excited to see how we grow spiritually through these guided Lectio Divina sessions.
